Recap: Cobb County Sheriff’s Office Celebrates 11th Year of Participation in the Polar Plunge

The Cobb County Sheriff’s Office participated in the 2025 Polar Plunge on Saturday, Feb. 22, marking its 11th year supporting Special Olympics Georgia. The sheriff’s team, Plunge Crazy, joined participants at Acworth Beach, braving the icy waters to support more than 17,000 athletes who benefit from year-round sports training and competitions.

The event featured several activities, including the highly anticipated Tug-A-War tournament, followed by a costume contest where Plunge Crazy earned first runner-up. Afterward, organizers presented sponsor awards before participants took the plunge into the freezing water to raise funds for the cause.

The Polar Plunge served as a key fundraising event, with proceeds benefiting Special Olympics Georgia’s mission to provide athletes with opportunities to develop physical fitness, build confidence and take part in life-changing experiences. The Cobb County Sheriff’s Office raised $2,715 for the organization. K-9 Sherlock and Deputy Cramer were also recognized for raising the most funds in the K-9 fundraising category.

As part of the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics, the event raised awareness and highlighted the sheriff’s office’s commitment to community service and inclusion. This year’s participation reinforced the agency’s dedication to empowering athletes and transforming communities through inclusive sports programs.
