Recap: Cobb County Sheriff's Office and Artportunity Knocks Celebrate Record-Breaking Back-to-School Event

On July 13, 2024, Artportunity Knocks, in collaboration with the Cobb County Sheriff's Office, hosted its highly anticipated Back-to-School Cobb event at the Fair Oaks Recreation Center in Marietta, GA. The event was an overwhelming success, with families lining up two hours before the doors opened. Over 2,300 Cobb County families were served, making this one of the largest back-to-school events in the county.

The event featured an impressive lineup of entertainment, inflatables, and vendors, including Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, providing essential health and safety information to families. The success of the event would not have been possible without the generous contributions from our sponsors. The Atlanta Braves Foundation and A Second Chance Bonds played a pivotal role in supplying backpacks and school supplies to students. Additionally, the Chi Gamma Gamma chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc. generously provided over 2,200 hamburger and hotdog meals, ensuring that no family went hungry.

Artportunity Knocks extends its heartfelt gratitude to the deputies, individuals, groups and corporate volunteers from LIIV Atlanta and Deloitte, whose dedication and hard work helped keep this event safe and clean.

Chris Woods, CEO of Artportunity Knocks, expressed his appreciation, saying, “The turnout for this year’s back-to-school event was nothing short of phenomenal. Seeing the community come together to support our youth in such a significant way was truly inspiring. We are deeply grateful to our sponsors, vendors, and volunteers who contributed to making this event a monumental success.”

As students gear up for a new academic year, Artportunity Knocks remains committed to empowering youth to make smart and positive choices while increasing opportunities in the arts, education, community service, and bridging cultures.
