Cobb County Sheriff’s Office Unveils Dedicated Relaxation Space to Enhance Employee Mental Health and Well-being
The Cobb County Sheriff’s Office opened its first-ever Relaxation Room dedicated to fostering mental health wellness for employees on Tuesday, Dec. 12 inside the Adult Detention Center. In response to these mental health challenges and the elevated risk of suicides among law enforcement professionals, the CCSO has taken a proactive stance.
The Relaxation Room, generously sponsored by the Cobb Sheriff’s Foundation, serves as a secure haven, symbolizing Cobb County Sheriff Craig Owens’ commitment to prioritizing employee wellness and health.
“In serving the people of Cobb County, we must make sure our employees are happy, healthy, and thriving,” said Sheriff Owens. “Working in law enforcement can be incredibly stressful. Creating the Relaxation Room is just one example of how we are making the Sheriff’s Office an inviting work environment for our sworn and civilian staff.”
The Relaxation Room is equipped with the following amenities:
Decorative and affirmation-based wall art enhancing the room's ambiance
A breathing technique poster encouraging employees to center themselves
A waterfall fountain generating serene sounds to promote calmness
Partitions separating each massage chair, establishing individual spaces for privacy and tranquility
Dimmable lighting allowing individuals to create their preferred ambiance, with each lamp equipped with built-in phone charging capabilities
A dedicated lactation room ensuring privacy for nursing mothers
Four relaxation chairs featuring diverse massaging functionalities
A fully furnished bathroom and sink adorned with aesthetic decor
Capt. Yaminah Holt spearheaded the creation of the Relaxation Room. “Our employees need that sense of self-care and confidence to endure some of their most challenging days,” she said. “Creating a place where they could clear their minds, take a break to relax in peace, and even provide our new mothers with a lactation room that is secluded and peaceful, was a joy to complete.”
The CCSO's Relaxation Room is intentionally designed to be available to CCSO employees around-the-clock.
