Cobb County Sheriff’s Office Hosts Final GED and Parenting 101 Graduation Ceremony of the Year to Support Detainee Rehabilitation and Reduce Recidivism

MARIETTA, GA (Nov. 21, 2024) – The Cobb County Sheriff’s Office, in collaboration with the Anderson Training Institute and Bank of America, will celebrate the achievements of participants completing the Parenting 101 and GED programs at a graduation ceremony inside the Adult Detention Center.

Parenting 101 offers critical nurturing and relationship-building tools to strengthen family bonds, paired with Bank of America’s financial literacy program to enhance participants' financial knowledge and planning skills. The GED program empowers participants with an educational foundation for future job opportunities. Together, these classes equip individuals with resources to build stability for themselves and their families upon release, helping to break the cycle of recidivism. These programs are ongoing, with additional cohorts expected to graduate by the year’s end.

In 2024, the Sheriff’s Office graduated a total of 25 GED participants (with more testing scheduled before graduation) and 46 Parenting 101 participants.
