Cobb County Sheriff's Office Announces Detainee Death
The individual's health condition reached a critical stage
MARIETTA (July 30, 2024) – The Cobb County Sheriff's Office announced detainee Brian Winnie, age 62, passed away at 4:41 p.m. yesterday.
Winnie was arrested on felony theft by taking in Dec. 2023. Upon being booked in the Adult Detention Center, he received a medical screening. Medical records indicated he was facing a recurring, serious health challenge. While in custody, he was routinely transported to the hospital for treatment.
Winnie was last admitted to Wellstar Cobb on Tuesday, July 23 and remained there until his passing.
His family was aware of his condition and made medical decisions on his behalf.
